각 시·도 교육청이 2020년도 제1회 초, 중, 고등학교 졸업학력 검정고시(이하 검정고시)를 4월 11일 토요일에 시행할 예정이라고 지난 6일 밝혔다.
검정고시는 매년 4월과 8월에 2회 시행되며 2개월 전인 2월과 6월 각 교육청 홈페이지에서 공고와 함께 접수를 시작한다. 수험생은 본인이 속한 지역의 시·도 교육청 홈페이지를 통해 응시 자격과 접수 일정을 확인할 수 있다.
최근 3년간 고졸 검정고시 응시자는 지속적으로 증가한 반면 합격률은 80%를 넘지 못하는 상황이다. 이에 전문가들은 "교육 당국의 공교육 정상화 정책으로 검정고시 난이도가 높아진 만큼 대비를 철저히 해야 한다"라고 전했다.
사전에 시험 대비를 확실히 하는 것도 중요하지만, 시험 접수에 필요한 서류를 꼼꼼히 준비 하는 것 또한 중요하다. 그리고 개인의 학력에 따라 제출 서류도 다르다는 점도 알아야 한다.

또한, 해외 귀국자의 경우 학력을 인정을 받기 위해서는 추가로 제출해야 할 서류가 있어 그 만큼 준비하고 신경 써야 할 것들이 많다. 우선 발급대상자의 신분이 정확히 확인되어야 하며 외국에서 발급한 원본 서류(영문을 제외한 기타 외국어로 된 일체의 서류)는 한글로 번역·공증을 한 후에 제출해야 한다. 또, 교육부 홈페이지에 미탑재된 학교일 경우 해당 서류를 아포스티유 또는 영사관 공증 절차를 거친 후 제출해야 한다.
특히 아포스티유 비협약 국가 귀국자는 재외공관공증법 제30조에 의거 재외공관(해당국 주재 한국 대사관 또는 영사관)에서 발행한 경우 증명을 받은 원본을 제출해야 하며 필요 서류에 대한 번역 및 공증, 아포스티유/영사확인이 필요하기 때문에 기간이 다소 오래 걸릴 수 있어 반드시 유의해야 한다.
